Conversations

These are some cherished conversations that gave me deeper insights to understand the Bharatiya consciousness. 

Despite being the source of Dharma and Adhyatma, it is truly a daunting effort to try and understand the very root perspective of our culture. The root is the aspiration for Moksh. Because it is an eternal state of purity and bliss. And because technically it is possible to attain. 

Knowing that Moksh is a true metaphysical possibility for each Aatma, our civilization is an engineered social matrix which has designed life action pathways for each person, at their level to further themselves.

To understand these pathways, the reality has to be perceived and understood in two ways. Through self awareness and through the awareness of “the other”, which is the sansar. And this sansar has social structures which are governing principles for collectives of people. 

The social structures of Bharat, in their every dimension, were designed on root principles of Ahimsa (taking care to inflict as less harm as possible on other Jeevs), Satya (Truth), Achaurya (Not taking what is rightfully not yours), Brahmacharya (The millions of desires arising from the five senses every second….to learn to be mindful of them and practice to fulfill only beneficial desires instead of getting lost in the labyrinth of their constantly boiling frenzy) and Aparigrah (hoard material items to the level of benefit to Self and others). 

The aim is not a stark austerity but a very Jagrut and mindful maneuvering of the external sansar in which one exists without losing sight of one’s existential truth as an Atma. And to ultimately be able to dissolve our non-Self parts and step more and more in the realm of our consciousness. 

Our body, mind and personality is just a temporary manifestation of our eternal Atma. So the path to Moksh is one of gentle maneuvering through the waves of our life in a way that creates an ignition ground for the finer eternal qualities that lie within. It is to pave the path of Sad-gati. The path leading upwards despite the ups and downs on the way. And that upward journey is pegged on awareness of the ultimate aim. 

However, to understand how these subtle elements are woven into our cultural life and in what ways does our culture stand as a beacon of this pathway ……requires the voice of elders and the experiences of those who have walked ahead and seen what lies ahead. 

These conversations have been an attempt to figure out the existential puzzle of Bharat, one piece at a time. And to get that understanding with the blessings of elders through hearing their experiences and insights.
